This graph shows the number of paintings that are portrait vs square vs landscape at MOMA. What I found interesting was that in the smaller sizes (6’ or less in either dimension), there are about the same number of portrait and landscape paintings. However, as the sizes increase, there are far more landscape paintings than portrait.
